A HOUSE FULL of WINDSOR by Kristin Contino - Review & Giveaway
I was so excited to learn that Kristin Contino has written another novel. THE LEGACY of US was written seven years ago, and I miss her storytelling. Her new novel, A HOUSE FULL of WINDSOR (WyattMacKenzie) has everything you could hope for in a novel, complex characters, family drama, some romance and a great story. This novel is also about a disorder that carries great stigma in our society.
Do you know what hoarding is? Perhaps you've watched an episode or two on "Hoarding: Buried Alive" on TLC. If not, hoarding is basically being unable to giveaway things that you don't need, finding yourself paralyzed by all the clutter and embarrassed to the point you stop letting friends and family into your home.
In A HOUSE FULL of WINDSOR, Debbie has been divorced for twenty years and her children, Sarah, Anne and Will are completely embarrassed by her hoarding. They love her, but they want her to clean out her Pennsylvania home. Debbie went to college in London and has been obsessed with the royals ever since. She has collected so many bins of commemorative "stuff" that she can barely walk in her home. She hasn't slept in her own bed for years.
Kristin takes on a very complex subject in her novel, THE HOUSE of WINDOR and from that creates an amazing landscape that I was mesmerized by on every page. The characters are all fully alive with their strengths and flaws. There is an undercurrent of humor which makes sure the novel doesn't take itself too seriously. I just loved A HOUSE FULL of WINDSOR.
Kristin Contino has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. (What? You’ve never read “Miss Real Cool: The Teenage Teacher?”). Born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs, Kristin spent most of her early years absorbed in tales like Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden, and The Babysitters Club, all while crafting her own short stories.
After a decade of working in journalism and public relations, Kristin translated her childhood love of reading and writing into a career as a freelance writer and editor.
Kristin serves as chief reporter at Royal Central and has been interviewed about the Royal Family for many national and international media outlets such as BBC World News, Sky News, and the Associated Press. Her debut novel, THE LEGACY OF US, was released in 2015, and her second book, A HOUSE FULL OF WINDSOR, will be released in July 2021.
When she’s not reading or writing, Kristin is passionate about travel, royal history, theatre, and learning everything she can about her favorite city in the world, London.

I find the Royals fascinating. There always seem to be some drama with them. The latest with Harry and Meghan is an example. They are an entertaining family.

ReplyDeleteI also remember the day Diana died: ( It was on my birthday, so very sad.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading and hearing about the Royals. I think it's because it's so different than what we have here in the USA. My Sister and I went to an exhibit with some of Princess Diana jewels and her wedding dress.

I do like reading about many of the Royals. I especially enjoy reading about Prince William and Princess Kate and their children.

I was born in the Uk so royalty was a big part of my childhood and growing up. I loved Diana and even saw her once in London at a movie premier. I was able to go to her childhood home and see a display of her clothes including her wedding dress and burial area
ReplyDeleteI do find royal life fascinating, but no one has touched my heart like Princess Diana. When she died, I cried for days, glued to the tv, watching the world and her family mourn for her. Thanks for the chance. toniann40@verizon.net
ReplyDeleteDidn't think I was a Royal fan but was fascinated by Oprah's interview with Megan & Harry. Recently read The Windsor Knot and Elizabeth & Margaret: The Intimate World of the Windsor Sisters....so this book really caught my eye. Hope I'm a winner! phyllis@evanspr.net
