JENN REINVENTED by Grayson Avery - Review & Giveaway

Jennifer Colby Kittler is a mother to eight-year-old, Cooper, wife to Russ, a lawyer and basically a know it all. That’s why she’s called by both family and friends “The Jenneral.” Jenn is hell bent on having another baby, whether or not her husband wants one. In JENN REINVENTED: The Sweet Water Circle Series by Grayson Avery, “The Jenneral” finally realizes after some blatant things smack her in the head, like her husband saying he may leave, that she may not have a marriage, let alone a baby.

It’s at this point readers get to know the really aggressive, pig-headed Jenn. She’s hard to take as she goes through life like a tornado wanting everything to go her way. Lucky for Jenn, she finally listens to friends Shelly, Taylor and Kait, members of the Sweet Water Circle who assign her to go to yoga. They tell her its time to get bitter or better.

It’s at The Shanti Center where Jenn meets Master Gyan. She resists the teachings of the center, which tell her she has no control over her life and that she needs to embrace the unexpected. It takes several hundred pages of the novel for Jenn to knock her head against the wall, before surrendering to inner peace. Or does she?

JENN REINVENTED is all about learning to go with the flow. We all have baggage, but the trick is not letting it weigh us down. Grayson Avery is a clever writer. His characters are well developed and humor jumps off the page. Keep your eyes out for another book in The Sweet Water Series coming your way.

GRAYSON'S WORDS

Welcome! I am the author of The Sweet Water Circle. a romantic comedy series that focuses on childhood friends in their 30’s and 40’s as they help each other navigate the stormy waters of dating, marriage, divorce, and a whole lot of inappropriate, naughty, and downright hysterical situations.

Besides writing fun, snarky, and inappropriate humor, I love spending time with my family, coaching my kids’ various sports, and successfully turning seemingly unsandwichable things into spectacular sandwiches, while also claiming that I never eat carbs. I assure you, it’s not easy to do. I know what you’re thinking: this guy sounds complex, a little bit mysterious, and maybe even dashingly handsome, if you haven’t been to the optometrist in a while. And you might be right.

My goal with my writing is to engage readers with fun and adventure. With so many competing forms of entertainment available, I really try to provide a reading experience like no other.

Check out a little author Q&A to learn more!

Where do your ideas come from? Mainly out of thin air. But some ideas do come from my life…with a healthy dose of exaggeration and embellishment. For example, my friend did fall down the stairs and fart in college, but I added a few extras for more fun.

What is your writing process like? I wish I could tell you some unique, elaborate process that churns out award-winning literature, but that’s not my style. Some people write beautiful prose. I write inappropriate humor on my couch for two to three hours every night after my kids go to bed. I am pretty methodical about how I outline each book and build from that. I’m not a pantser (write by the seat of my pants) as they say in the author community. Sometimes I don’t even wear pants while I’m writing.

How do you find time to write? It’s just like anything else. You make time for the things that are important. We all have the same twenty four hours. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. I choose to make sure I write every day. Now, exercise, I don’t have time for that.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be? Have confidence in yourself. I didn’t write my first novel until I was forty (so my slightly younger self). I didn’t think I was good enough. I wrote a lot of short stories and a few screenplays, but never the big one…

Why do you write? Writing is a passion of mine. I think my head would explode if I didn’t put the stories in my brain down on paper. I love making people laugh and hearing from readers who love my stories, so don’t be a stranger! For so many people, reading is a chore or something they don’t even do, so I try to write stories that transform that experience for them.

What author is your work most like? I wish I knew- it would help me with my marketing. I think my writing is pretty unique. It’s funny, but with a message. Feel free to tell me what you think!
