THE GUIDE by Peter Heller - Review & Giveaway
Bestselling author, Peter Heller is out with another thrilling novel, THE GUIDE (Knopf). Readers will recognize Jack from Heller's previous novel, THE RIVER, and Covid19 continues to push those who can afford it out into the great outdoors.
What could be better than this?
It's Jack's go to phrase that helps soothe some of the awful loss which has filled his young life. He hopes to find time for reflection when he's hired as a fishing guide for rich people at The Kingfisher Lodge, known by locals as "Billionaires Mile." It's located in a remote area of Colorado and known for its pristine river and fly fishing. It boasts privacy and distance from the virus.
Jack quickly forms a close relationship with his client, Alison K. - a well known singer. But nefarious things start happening and it doesn't take long for Jack and Alison to realize something's not quite right at the ranch.
THE GUIDE is as beautifully written as it's terrifying. I've never been fly fishing nor particularly interested in books where nature is one of the main characters, but I fell in love with THE GUIDE on page one and kept reading as the layers of the story grew and the plot twisted and turned. At the end, I was absolutely shocked by what was actually going on at the ranch. I challenge you not to read this all the way through in one sitting.

The Guide followed in August, 2021 – it’s a heart-racing thriller which returns to Jack (from The River), who is hired by an elite fishing lodge in Colorado, where he uncovers a plot of shocking menace amid the natural beauty of sun-drenched streams and forests.

Last year becoming empty nesters, we decided to sell our house in the suburbs and move permanently to the beach. This is our happy place. Hearing & seeing the waves each day, watching the sunrises & sunsets, walking along the shore, smelling the salt air..it just makes my heart so happy.
