LOVE.COM by Susan Bacoyanis - Review & Giveaway

Aging - it's something all of us can't escape. But the way we experience it is different for men and women. Men can go grey, lose their hair, add a pounch and that's normal and acceptable without any question. It's perfectly fine for men to date a woman their daughter's age. But for women, it's different and anyone who says it isn't, doesn't live in the real world. Women grow up being told to do everything possible to be pretty for a man and go to war against the aging process. Billions of dollars are racked up in the beauty business selling creams and serums that promise youth and of course, there's also plastic surgery.

Author Susan Bacoyanis book, LOVE.COM  is a rom-com targeted at women of a "certain age," women who are invisible in our youth obsessive society. Once a woman hits 40, the clock starts ticking, by 50 or 60 the world thinks you're past it... past love, past sex, past a career and you're heading down a black hole, destination depression and loneliness. In Bacoyanis' novel, Lucy fights back and becomes Ms. Cougar... the hottest date in Los Angeles. She takes it upon herself to create the online site, LOVE.com But does that make her life better or more complicated? You decide.

I enjoyed reading LOVE.com  I met a guy in 2000 on Match.com and dated him for two years. That was before going on line to find a match was popular. Back then it was basically taboo. But now it's okay, more than okay. There are websites that cater to any age and sexual preference. I loved how Lucy wakes up freaked out that she's fifty and she's "plain old." I loved the different references to time and place... shoulder pads? (FYI: they're coming back) Hair styled like the women on Dynasty - too funny! As a reader, it was fun to be a part of Hollywood's A-list. LOVE.com also shows that men and women, no matter what age still cross wires when it comes to love. I think most women in their 20s and 30s probably won't relate too much to LOVE.com The #metoo movement has encouraged women to have more individual autonomy. I'm not in my 20s or 30s and I loved it!

  3. There is a difference but if a woman or man is confident it does not have to be a bad thing. I keep telling people age is a number. It is all about how you feel and act.

  5. Not really. It depends on the person. But in general men tend to get sexier with age. positive.ideas.4youATgmail.com
