SUPER BLOOM by Megan Tady

In Megan Tady's debut novel, SUPER BLOOM (ZibbyPress), Joan Johnston's life is in a rut. You could say she's on the verge of  severe depression. Her job at a Vermont spa is anything but relaxing, she's deep in debt, completely burnt out and she's still grieving the unexpected death of her boyfriend, Samuel. They both worked at the Apex Inn & Spa and planned to start a new life in Colorado, until he was killed in a bicycle accident.

Then romance writer, Carmen Bronze enters Joan's life. Carmen wants to pay Joan big bucks for spilling the secrets of guests and working at the spa for her new romance novel. Joan sees it as an easy way to get out of debt, so she signs the contract, but Carmen's nice offer doesn't come without strings. More than that, Joan who once was a writer, decides she wants to write the book, but for herself.

SUPER BLOOM is about friendships, trust and second chances - second chances at life and romance. Joan finds herself positively energized when she starts writing. Suddenly she's an advocate to get worker's rights, new friendships and even a new romance. But Joan also finds herself a target for Carmen's revenge.

I found myself rooting for Joan even as she wallowed in her grief and anger. She's a quirky character, surrounded by a menagerie of funny individuals.

FYI: Super Blooms are a real thing. Read the book and enjoy!
